Members absent: Lou Porter. Also present: Ned DeBerg, Paul Huting, Eric Thorson, Roger Shook, Cheryl Huddleston. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the Minutes of November 7, 2001, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Certified List for the position of Fire Chief — Fire Department, was presented for certification. This position is vacant due to a retirement. The job description and testing criteria for Fire Chief was approved by the Human Resources Committee on June 11, 2001 and the Civil Service Commission on July 3, 2001. The position was advertised in the Courier, Affirmative Action List, Job Service, listed on the City Website and posted in all departments. Seven resumes were received, and five candidates were invited to interview on November 20, 2001, with one candidate declining to interview. John Blitsch, Lou Porter, Nancy Showers, Frank Magsamen, Tom Powers, Jim Schneider, Dan Brown from Dubuque and Andy Roca from Iowa City were on the interview panel. One candidate did not place high enough to be placed on the list. Moved by Luce, seconded by Blitsch: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible, based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission, for the appointment to the position of Fire Chief for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Waterloo Fire Rescue Department. The Civil Service List for the position of Bookkeeper — Housing & Leisure Services Departments was presented for certification. These positions are vacant due to resignations. The job description and testing criteria for Bookkeeper for City of Waterloo was approved by Human Resources Committee on July 16, 2001 and the Civil Service Commission on September 5, 2001. The position was advertised in the Courier, Affirmative Action List, Job Service, listed on the City Website and posted in all departments. Fifty-six resumes were received and sixteen were invited to interview on November 14 — 15, 2001. Wanda Hill, Bill Bachman and Cheryl Huddleston were on the interview panel. One candidate canceled the interview and two did not score high enough to be placed on the list.
