Members absent: Lou Porter. Also present: Paul Huting, Sandie Greco, Mike Whalen, Tim Pillack, Ethel Washington, Eric Thorson, Cheryl Huddleston. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the Minutes of September 5, 2001, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Civil Service List for the position of Traffic Engineer-Traffic Operations, was presented for certification. This position is vacant due to a resignation. The job description and testing criteria for Traffic Engineer was approved by the Human Resources Committee on February 5, 2001 and the Civil Service Commission on April 20, 2001. The position was advertised in the Courier, Des Moines Register, Affirmative Action List, Job Service, listed on the City Website and posted in all departments. Two resumes were received, and one candidate, who is a former employee, was interviewed on October 23, 2001. Dennis Gentz, Gary Heinick, and Cheryl Huddleston were on the interview panel. One candidate is on the Traffic Engineer List. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible, based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission, for the appointment to the position of Traffic Engineer for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Traffic Operations Department. The list shall exhaust upon appointment. CERTIFIED LIST Mohammed Elahi Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. The Civil Service List for the position of Personnel Technician for the Personnel Department was presented for certification. This is a new position. The job description and testing criteria for Personnel Technician was approved by the Human Resources Committee on August 6, 2001 and the Civil Service Commission on September 5, 2001. The position was advertised in the Courier, Affirmative Action List, Job Service, listed on the City Website and posted in all departments. Twenty-four resumes were received and six were invited to interview on October 30, 2001. Sandie Greco, Nancy Eckert and Cheryl Huddleston were on the interview panel. One candidate canceled the interview and one did not score high enough to be placed on the list. The list consists of one white male, two white females and one black female. This part-time position replaces the full-time position in Inspections. There are no changes to the job description and testing criteria for Clerk I. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the job description and testing criteria for Clerk I - Fire Rescue be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried. The job description and testing criteria for Associate Planner - CPD/Planning Department was presented for approval. This position is vacant due to a resignation. There are no changes to the job description and testing Criteria for Ass ociate Pla nner. The city will 1 be considering candidates didates who will be graduating in May or June. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce that the job description and testing criteria for Associate Planner - CPD/Planning Department be approved. Ayes: Two. Absent: Porter. Motion carried.
