Motion carried. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce to approve the August 25, 1999 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Civil Service List for Housing Coordinator was presented for'. certification. This is an additional position due to increased numbers of housing units. The Commission in May approved the job description and testing criteria. The position was advertised in the Courier, listed with Workforce Development, a notice sent to the agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List, posted on the City website and in all departments. Fifteen resumes were received and eight candidates were invited to interview. Deb Collett, Gladys Rainey and Cheryl Huddleston interviewed the candidates on September 28, 1999. Three candidates cancelled and two did not show for their interview. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants,who are eligible, based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Housing Coordinator for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Community Planning & Development Department. Appointments shall be made from this list for the next year (October 20, 1999-October 19,2000). CERTIFIED LIST Alan Stockdale Ruth Hinder Susan Neessen Motion carried. The Civil Service List for Equipment Operator I-Street Department was presented for certification. There are six current vacancies due to retirements, resignations and promotions and another potential vacancy. The Commission in May approved the job description and testing criteria. The position was advertised in the Courier, listed with Workforce Development, a notice sent to the agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List,and posted on the City website and in all departments. Fifty resumes were received and twenty were invited to take the driving test (eight others had already taken the test or were current CDL employees). Ten candidates either cancelled or did not show for the driving test and one did not pass the test. Rick Curran, Keith Kearns, Bob Morelock and Cheryl Huddleston interviewed the candidates on September 20-22, 1999. One candidate canceled his interview and two were disqualified because they did not have a high school diploma/GED.
