Mayor's Conference Room
Members present: Braun. Absent: Furgerson and Juon. Others
present: Don Temeyer, Jim Rodemeyer, Stan Stapella, Ron Johnson,
Fire Chief Olson, Dave Tyler, Roger Mogle, Bruce Bottorff, Jim
Lindsey, Earl Corner, Al Gardner, Mike Junk and Cora Turner.
No official meeting was held because lack of a Quorum.
Jim Rodemeyer presented an update on the following positions:
Electrical Inspector
As indicated at the last Civil Service meeting, sixteen (16)
applicants were invited to participate in the written examination
purchased from Corporate Personnel Services on June 20, 1984. Eleven
(11) applicants participated in the written examination and will be
invited to oral interviews to be held July 10 and 12, 1984. The oral
panel members will be a representative from Personnel, Russ Garling
and a Electrical Engineer from John Deere.
Operations Supervisor
Jim Rodemeyer indicated advertisement for the position began April
22, 1984 and ended June 1 , 1984. The position was advertised in the
Waterloo Courier, Des Moines Register, posted with Kirkwood College
and Citywide. Nine (9) applicants applied for the position and four
(4) were notified they did not meet the minimum qualifications and
requirements as outlined in the Civil Service Notice. Five (5)
appicants will be contacted to participate in the oral examination
process.
Associate Planner
Jim Rodemeyer indicated advertisement for the position began June 3,
1984 and the deadline was June 25, 1984. The position was advertised
in the Waterloo Courier, Des Moines Register, Placement Offices of
Drake University, Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and
University of Northern Iowa, Job Service and posted Citywide.
Twenty-nine (29) applicants applied for the position. At this time
we have not reviewed each resume to ensure they meet the minimum
requirements and qualifications. Oral examinations are planned to be
scheduled the week of July 9-13, 1984.
City Planner
Jim Rodemeyer indicated advertisement for the position began June 10,
1984 and the deadline is July 2, 1984. The position was advertised
in the Waterloo Courier, Des Moines Register, Placement Offices of
Drake University, Iowa State University, University of Iowa and
University of Northern Iowa, Job Service, APA Job Mart Planning
Magazine and posted Citywide. At this time twenty-four (24)
applicants applied for the position. Oral interviews are planned
to be scheduled the week of July 9-13, 1984.
Operations Manager
Jim Rodemeyer indicated advertisement for the position began June 1 ,
1984 and the deadline is June 29, 1984. The position was advertised
in the Waterloo Courier, Des Moines Register, American Association of
Airport Executives Magazine and posted Citywide. At this time
thirty-five (35) applicants applied for the position. Oral
interviews are planned to be scheduled in July.
The next scheduled Civil Service meeting will be Thursday, July 5,
1984, at 4:00 p.m. in the Large Conference Room.
