Motion carried. Under new business Jim Rodemeyer reported on the Promotional Exams for the position of Assistant Police Chief. Police Chief Huck said it is very hard to find a good written test and that he would like to see a minimum standard be set, then if a person does not meet the standard, he does not qualify. It was moved by Eibey, seconded by Geisen, that under the title "Qualifications" on the exam, the wording he changed to read 3 years served in the rank of captain on an acting or permanent basis on the Waterloo Police Department, and that there be a cut off score of 60% and anything under that not passing. Motion carried. Under new business Roger Mogle reported on the Fire Promotional Examinations for Lieutenants. The question of the evaluation panel was discussed, whether it should be kept within the department or bring in an outside panel . Roger mentioned that this was a rough draft of the procedure and that at the November meeting he would be bringing back to the commissioners the final draft. This test is set up for the promotion of Lieutenants and not any other promotion. No action was taken on this matter.
