The Minutes of the August 19 , 1982 meeting were approved , as
mailed.
Under old business , the Fire Recruit Exams was reviewed . The
written exam will be given on October 5 , 1982 at 7 : 00 p.m. , at
Fire Station No. #1 , with the physical agility test scheduled
for November 13 , 1982. Sixty (60) applications have been
returned. Jim Rodemeyer , Assistant Personnel Director ,
suggested that the top forty ( 40) applicants be screened for
compliance with the minimum eye and ear requirements prior to
taking the physical agility test.
Rodemeyer reported that the Police Recruit list expires on
September 17 , 1982. One name remains on the list ; he will be
notified of his ineligibility. Procedures for promotionals
were reviewed by the commission . Said procedures were
formulated in September 1980. The time is 4 : 10 p .m. - Braun
now present . Police Chief Huck reported that within the next
month he would have recommendations on recruit and promotional
procedures .
Under new business , the establishment of a Paramedic Supervisor
in the Fire Department was discussed. The position would be
created for the purposes of coordination of paramedic services
with the hospitals . Said position would be certified through
the Civil Service , after an oral examination by a panel
possibly consisting of two ( 2 ) physicians and an instructor
from Hawkeye Institute of Technology . This panel would rank
the applicants for final selection by the Fire Chief. It was
moved by Braun , seconded by Eibey to proceed with the above
procedures in a suitable time frame. Motion carried. An
update will be given at the next Civil Service Commission
meeting on October 21 , 1982.
With no further business before the Commission , it was moved by
Braun , seconded by Eibey to adjourn .
