RESOLUTION NO. 2022-504
RESOLUTION DESIGNATING $4.5 MILLION IN CITY
MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE TRANSFORMING GATES AND
BYRNES PARKS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Leisure Services had submitted an application to the State of Iowa
Economic Development Authority for a $1 million Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT)
grant for the Transforming of Gates and Byrnes Parks project, and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Authority requires that the City Council commit
$4.5 million to the project, to be funded through the CIP program over the next 2 years, and
WHEREAS, $8.5 million has been committed by the Black Hawk Gaming Association,
McElroy Trust, and the Otto Schoitz Foundation and the Black Hawk County Supervisors have
committed to a $50,000.00 match for the CAT grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA that the City Council of the City of Waterloo agrees to designate $4.5
million in City Matching Funds for the Transforming Gates and Byrnes Parks Project, to support
the application to the State of Iowa Economic Development Authority for a $1 million
Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of August 2022.
