UNFINISHED BUSINESS • • The Civil Service List for Plan Review Specialist was presented for certification. The job description and testing criteria were approved by the Commission on August 15, 1995. The position was advertised in the Waterloo Courier and Des Moines Register, listed with Job Service, a notice sent to the agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action list and posted in all City departments. Five resumes were received by the deadline date and all candidates were invited to interview. Oral interviews were held on October 19, 1995 by a panel comprised of a local architect, a manager from Prairie Construction, and Cheryl Huddleston. One candidate canceled his interview and one candidate did not score high enough to pass the oral exam. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Culp: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Plan Review Specialist for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Building Inspections Department. The job description and testing criteria was approved by the Commission on March 1, 1995 and testing has been on hold pending the report of the Mayor appointed Operational Review Committee. The position was posted as a promotional at all fire stations. Twenty-seven resumes were received by the deadline date. Interviews were conducted by a panel comprised of a Fire Captain from Des Moines, a Fire Lieutenant from Davenport, Assistant Fire Chief Duggan, Fire Captain Olson, and Fire Lieutenant Vollbrecht on October 24-26, 1995. All candidates then took a written test administered by Lyle Alberts on November 28, 1995. NEW BUSINESS The job description and testing criteria for Systems Analyst was presented for approval. This is a new, promotional position which will report to the Manager, Information Services.
