The July 21 , 1994 Agenda was approved as mailed.
Minutes for the previous meeting are not yet available.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Civil Service List for Assistant Fire Chief of Support Services
and a letter requesting approval of a promotional list of less than
three candidates was presented for approval . Only one applicant
submitted a resume. An oral interview was held on July 19, 1994 by
a panel composed of Cheryl Huddleston, Eric Thorson, and Ray Moore.
Moved by Culp, seconded by Juon:
We , the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the
following list of applicant( s) , who are eligible based upon the
examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission
for the appointment to the position of Assistant Fire Chief of
Support Services for the City of Waterloo, Iowa. This list
exhausts upon appointment.

Update of Veteran's Preference Issue
A letter was received from Senator Lind' s office saying he will try
to expedite obtaining an Attorney General 's opinion on this issue.
NEW BUSINESS
The job description and testing criteria for Maintenance
Electrician were presented for review. There is a vacancy due to
a promotion. The position will be advertised in the Courier,
listed with Job Service, and a notice sent to the organizations on
the affirmative action list and the Labor Temple. The position
requires a journeyman electrician license. Moved by Culp, seconded
by Juon to approve the job description and testing criteria for
Maintenance Electrician. Motion carried.
OTHER BUSINESS
The next meeting is scheduled for August 24 , 1994 at 3 : 30 p.m. The
job description for Fire Fighter Recruit should be ready for
approval as well as the Civil Service lists for Medical Supervisor
and Training Officer.
