Members present: Dave Juon, Bonetta Culp, John Murphy
Others present: Tom Powers, Art Lupkes, Marty Freshwater, Dean Smock, Jim
Rodemeyer, Cheryl Huddleston
Moved by Murphy, seconded by Culp to approve the Agenda for December 14, 1993 as
delivered. Motion carried.
The purpose of the meeting was to conduct interviews for Fire Chief. The
interview panel was composed of the three Commission members, Fire Chief Art
Lupkes from Cedar Falls, and Fire Lieutenant Tom Powers.
The panel interviewed Acting Fire Chief Frank Magasamen and Battalion Chief
Dennis Duggan. Rating sheets were completed by each panel member on each
candidate and the scores added and averaged.
Moved by Culp, seconded by Murphy:
We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of
applicant(s) , who are eligible based upon the examination process as set forth
by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Fire Chief
- Waterloo Fire Rescue Department for the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Appointment
to the position of Fire Chief shall be made from this list.

Motion carried.
Dave Juon, Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, expressed his
appreciation to Fire Chief Lupkes and Lieutenant Powers for assisting in the
interview process.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
