The Agenda for December 17 , 1991 and the Minutes from November 26 ,
1991 were approved as mailed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Cora Turner presented updates on the following positions :
Engineering Technician-position advertised in the Courier,
Register, with Job Service, and listed with the agencies and
organizations on the Affirmative Action list . Eighteen resumes
were received and ten candidates satisfied the job requirements .
Oral interviews will be scheduled after the holidays . No
minorities or females satisfied the job requirements.
Plant Operator Trainee-position advertised in the Courier, with Job
Service , listed with the agencies and organizations on the
Affirmative Action list , and a notice sent to Park Maintenance and
other seasonals . Twenty-eight resumes have been received to date .
Fire Equipment Operator-position posted at all Fire Stations as
promotional . Twenty-three resumes have been received. The written
exam will be administered by Lyle Alberts on January 9 , 1992 .
Chief Stan Stapella is requesting that title be changed to Fire
Engineer to reflect more common terminology. This will be
discussed at the next Civil Service meeting . This change will need
to be brought before PERB.
Civilian Dispatcher-advertising will begin after the holidays.
NEW BUSINESS
A revised job description for Fire Fighter was presented to the
Commission. The standards for vision and hearing have been changed
to reflect the most recent proposed NFPA standards . The sentence ,
"A list of essential job functions will be provided to those
candidates submitting a resume , " was added to the first paragraph
of the job notice, also. A list of these essential job functions
will be sent to the Commission members . Moved by Culp, seconded by
Murphy to approve the revised job description and testing criteria
for Fire Fighter. Motion carried.
OTHER BUSINESS
Commission members will be contacted regarding the date of the next
meeting . With no further business the meeting was adjourned at
4 : 35 p.m.
