As a point of information, Chief Koehrsen mentioned that two other
names have been removed from the Police Recruit Civil Service
List - Glenn Kieler, Kevin Johnson - because they were offered
employment and declined the offer.
Police Chief Koehrsen outlined for the Commission a three-fold
plan he hopes will help in recruiting minorities: 1) target
local community leaders and encourage them to become involved in
the recruitment; 2) spend time at local educational institutions
such as high schools, UNI and Hawkeye Tech, speaking on police
work as a career; 3 ) target military through the help of local
recruiters.
The next Civil Service Commission Meeting will be scheduled at a
later date.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
