It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the Agenda, as
amended, be approved. Motion carried.
The request of the Waterloo Public Library for City matching funds
in an amount not to exceed $45 , 000 for the upgrading of the data
base to a standard format for the on-line catalog was reviewed.
Bev Lind, Director of the Waterloo Public Library, reported that
the Library had been awarded a grant in the amount of $26 , 476 . 00
from the State Library of Iowa under the Library Services and
Construction Act Title III funds . The receipt of said grant is
contingent upon a local match. It was reported that this
project had been included in the Fiscal Year 1988-92 Capital
Improvements Program. Although the money is not currently
budgeted, it was suggested that should the Finance Committee and
Council approve the match money, that said monies be included in
the General Obligation Bond sale scheduled for Spring, 1988 .
In response to questions by Councilperson Miller, Mrs. Lind
reported that this computer enhancement will increase productivity
of the staff and will not require the employment of additional
personnel.
It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the Finance
Committee recommend to the City Council that authorization be
given to provide match money in an amount not to exceed $45 , 000
for use in updating the automation system at the Waterloo Public
Library. Motion carried.
It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that bill payments be
approved as contained in Schedule A918 , pp. 1-67 , totalling
$901 , 624 . 16 , dated October 26 , 1987 . Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
