Motion carried. Fire Chief Stan Stapella reported that a lightning storm on August 3, 1987 struck the Waterloo Fire Department's main base radio station at the Kimball Avenue water tower. The damage at the base station is beyond repair. Estimated cost of replacement of the base station is approximately $10,000. The radio station operates the fire frequency, state fire frequency, pager system and monitor radios. A temporary backup station is in place to operate the fire frequency. This damage has been reported to the insurance company, with $1,000 deductible. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that authorization be given to the Fire Department to replace the base unit station at the Kimball Avenue water tower, and that said replacement be sought through the state bid process. Motion carried. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller to approve the garbage refund at 828 South Street in the amount of $52.20. Motion carried. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that bills payment be approved as contained in Schedule A, A900, pp. 1-46, totalling $1,185,276.29, dated August 10, 1987. Motion carried .
