Members present: Miller, Seeber
Members absent: Chairperson Dowie
It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the Agenda, as proposed, be
approved. Mot ion carried.
Authorization to seek bids for 3,000 tons of bulk highway de-icing salt for use
during the 1987-1988 winter season was discussed. Based upon past usage and
the remaining supply from last season, this amount would be adequate for an
average winter. Bids are being sought now so that a supply can be secured for
delivery this winter. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that
authorization as requested to seek said bids be approved. Motion carried.
The request of the Police Department for authorization to seek bids for
photographic supplies was discussed. Chief Shook indicated that insurance
companies and other agencies using this service of the Police Department are
charged for this service. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that
authorization to seek bids as requested be approved . Motion carried.
The request of the Library Board for authorization to seek bids for the
redesign of the circulation desk of the first floor of the Library was
reviewed. Bev Lind, director of the Waterloo Public Library, reported that the
Building and Grounds Committee had reviewed said proposal and had recanmended
approval . Approximate cost of this project is $15,000 to $20,000 and will be
funded from the Margaret Nordholm bequest, which specified that these funds be
used for furniture and equipment at the Library. Mrs. Lind also indicated that
this redesign will improve the circulation of patrons returning and checking
out books. It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that authorization to
seek bids as requested be approved . Motion carried .
It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the bills payment be approved
as contained in Schedule A, A900, pp. 1-52, totalling $1 ,405,096.27 , dated
July 27, 1987 and Schedule W900, pp. 1-8, totalling $96, 177.26, dated July 27 ,
1987. Mot ion carried .
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned .
