Finance Committee Minutes
November 4, 1985
6:30 p.m.
Mayor's Conference Room
Members present: Chairperson Dowie, Klinger, Getty.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Dowie that the agenda be
approved as proposed. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for two (2) 2-1/2 ton pick-ups for
the Street Department:
Bidder Bid Amount
Crossroads Ford $18,943.40
Rydell Chevrolet $17,970.98
It was moved by Dowie, seconded by Getty that the recommendation of
the Street Department to accept the low bid of Rydell Chevrolet in
the above amount be approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for one (1) truck mounted snow plow
for the Street Department:
Bidder Bid Amount
Swaney Equipment Company, bidding Henke $3,733.00
Sage Equipment Company, bidding Coates $3,225.00
A representative from Swaney Equipment Company stated that even
though his bid was higher than that of the Coates model, there were
several differences that he wished to point out between the two (2)
snow plows. Following discussion it was moved by Klinger, seconded
by Getty that the above bids be referred to the Street Department
and City Attorney for review of specifications and the matter tabled
for one week. Motion carried.
The following bids were received for materials for wood bridge deck
repairs:
Bidder Bid Amount
Pioneer Lumber Company $3,093.14
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the recommendation
of the City Engineer's Office to accept this law bid be approved.
Motion carried.
The request of the Park Board to purchase a tree spade utilized by
the Forestry Division was reviewed. Mr. Brooks reported that the 17
year old machine broke. Several alternatives have been explored
including purchasing a new tree spade estimated at $16,500; repair
the existing machine at an estimated cost $1 ,850.00; and not fix or
repair the machine. Money had not been appropriated in the Park
Department Budget for this repair; however, money is available
within the total budget of the Park Department to cover the cost of
a new machine. Therefore, it was moved by Klinger, seconded by
Dowie that the Park Commission be given authorization to purchase a
new tree spade and finance it from various other portions of their
operating budget. Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the request from
Prairie Construction Company for a garbage refund for property on
San Marnan Drive, new site of the Reed Cadillac Olds Dealer in the
amount of $23.20 be approved. Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the bills for
payment be recommended to the Council for approval. Motion
carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned. Motion carried.
