Finance Committee Minutes
October 7, 1985
6:30 p.m.
Mayor's Conference Room
Members present: Dawie, Getty and Klinger.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty that the Agenda as
proposed be approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for a Traffic Signal Head for the
Electrical Department:

General Traffic Controls, Inc. $550.00
Brown Traffic Products, Inc. $553.00
The following bids were also reviewed for pushing approximately 45
feet of pipe under San Marnan Drive.

Ernster and Company, Inc. $12.00 per foot
Abbott Trenching Company, Inc. 6.00 per foot
It was the recommendation of the Electrical Department to accept the
low bid of General Traffic Controls, Inc., for the traffic signal
head and to accept the bid of Abbott Trenching Company, Inc. , in the
amount of $6.00 per foot for the second bid item. Money for this
project is available in the LaPorte Road Project Fund. It was moved
by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the above recommendations be
approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for a fitness screening for the
Waterloo Fire Department.

Allen Memorial Hospital $26.00 per person $31 .00 per person
It was the recommendation of the Waterloo Fire Department to accept
the low bid of St. Francis Hospital. It was moved by Getty, seconded
by Klinger that this recommendation be approved. Motion carried.
The following bid was reviewed for a 110 foot aerial Fire Truck.

The Fire Chief recommended that the bid of Pierce Mfg. , Inc. be
approved including alternates 2 and 3 for a total bid of
$401 ,972.50. The Fire Chief indicated that money for this unit has
not been appropriated but will be bonded for in the 1986 General
Obligation Bond Sale. Since delivery on this vehicle is not expected
until August or September of 1986, this will allow a payment to be
made appropriately. He also indicated that this unit will be
replacing one of two aerial trucks owned by the City of Waterloo and
specifically will be replacing a 1952 model. It was moved by Getty,
seconded by Klinger that the above recommendation be approved, and be
recommended to the City Council for their approval. Motion carried.

The following bids were reviewed for the F.Y. 1986 San Marnan Median
Modification:

It was the recommendation of the City Engineer's Office to accept the
low bid of B & B Construction. It was moved by Klinger, seconded by
Getty that this recommendation be approved. Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Dowie that authorization be given
to the Street Department to seek bids for a 11 ' reversible snow plow.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that authorization be
given to the Street Department to seek bids for two half ton pick-up
trucks. Motion carried.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty that authorization be
given to the Police Department to seek bids on new police cars and
emergency lights. Motion carried.
It was reported that the proceeds from the City vehicle auction held
on September 27, 1985 was $14,620. It was moved by Klinger, seconded
by Getty that the above report be received and placed on file.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty that garbage refunds in
the amount of $31 .80 be approved for Barb Osterly, 826 W. 3rd Street
and that garbage refund be approved for Hap B. Rooff, 340 W. 13th
Street in the amount of $11 .60. Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the bills for payment
be recommended to the Council for approval. Dowie abstained due to
possible conflict of interest. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
