March 3, 1986

Mayor's Conference Room
Members present: Chairperson Dowie, Seeber, and Miller.
The Chairperson announced that Item No. 1 under New Business,
purchase of step-up van for the Sewer Department, had been deleted
from the Agenda and that a New Business Item should be added to the
Agenda. This is the promotion of Waterloo for future conventions--
Mayor McKinley. The Agenda was approved, as amended.
The request of the Police Department to purchase a used pickup truck
was brought to the floor for discussion. The vehicle would be used
for transporting evidence from a crime scene to the Police Station.
Formal specifications would not be drawn up for the pickup but rather
Larry Cunningham, Superintendent of the Central Garage and the Police
Department would go to various used lots and purchase a used pickup
off the lot. It was moved by Dowie, seconded by Seeber that
authorization to purchase said used pickup truck be approved. Motion
carried.
It was indicated that prior to the purchase of the above pickup, the
quotes would be brought back to the Committee for review.
Mayor McKinley requested authorization to expend $500 for the
promotion of Waterloo for future conventions. Together with the
Chamber of Commerce and other area businesses, the City of Waterloo
will be displaying a booth in Des Moines on March 18, 1986 to lure
future conventions to Waterloo. The cost of this promotion is $500.
It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Dowie that authorization be given
to expend this money. Motion carried.
It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the bills for payment
be recommended to the Council for approval . Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
