Members present: Chairperson Dowie, Seeber and Miller.
It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Motion carried.
The request of the Street Department to take bids on a truck chassis
and garbage packer were reviewed. It was indicated that the money is
available through fees paid by garbage users. Councilperson Lichty
asked that the Public Works Committee review these items prior to
Finance Committee approval . It was moved by Miller, seconded by
Seeber that authorization to take bids on these items be approved.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that authorization be
given to taking bids on two regency transceivers for the Police
Department. Motion carried.
The request of the Police Department to purchase a used pickup truck
was reviewed. Chief Shook explained that the truck would be used for
transporting department property, uniforms, ammunition, batteries,
building materials, supplies, etc. Currently these items are being
transported in passenger cars or in larger vehicles that are borrowed
from or rented from other departments. It was moved by Seeber,
seconded by Miller that this purchase request be tabled for one week.
Motion carried.
Mayor McKinley stated that he requested authorization to purchase
dictation equipment. Units from Iowa Business Machines, Inc.,
Dictaphone and Lanier have been used on a trial basis. Quotes were
received from Dictaphone and Iowa Business Machines, Inc. It was his
recommendation that the City purchase a unit from Iowa Business
Machines, Inc. in the total amount of $708.40. He stated that the
portable transcriber would be shared with the Personnel Department.
It was moved by Dowie, seconded by Seeber that authorization be given
to purchase the equipment as requested. Motion carried.
It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that the bills for payment
be recommended to the City Council for approval . Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
