It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that the Agenda be amended as follows: Item No. 1 under New Business should read: Bid recommendation on Police Handguns and Holsters--Police Chief. Motion carried. The request of the Superintendent of Water Pollution Control to purchase a used track loader rather than repair a 1966 John Deere 450 Track-Type Loader was reviewed. Mr. Bottorff explained that he had reviewed three options and recommended that the City enter into a 36 month full pay lease at 7% simple interest by trading a 1985 Cat 931B Track-Type Loader from Altorfer Machine Company in the amount of $17,819. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller to accept this recommendation. Motion carried. It was moved by Miller, seconded by Dowie that authorization be given to purchase a No-Problem Lanier Word Processor with printer and automatic feed, sound hood and software from the University of Northern Iowa in the amount of $1,500. Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for a replacement truck for the Electrical Department: BIDDER TOTAL BID Rydell Chevrolet 1983 Chevrolet Custom 20 3/4T 65,000 miles $5,700.00 Crossroads Ford 1986 Ford F250 3/4T 8600 lb. GVW 300 CID, 4 speed $9,575.66 It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of the Central Garage to accept the bid from Crossroads Ford. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Dowie that this recommendation be approved. Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for revolvers and holsters for the Police Department: Law Enforcement Equipment Co. 1. Safariland Model 29 Hi-Rise Holster 0 to 49 units - price per unit $ 29.25 50 to 100 - price per unit $ 27.25 (No trade-in allowed for Smith & Wesson 8-30 Security Holsters. ) It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that the recommendation of the Police Chief to accept the low bid of Smith & Wesson for 80 new Model 66 .357 Magnum Revolvers and 60 new Safariland Model 29 Hi-Ride Holsters by Law Enforcement Equipment Co. be approved (total amount of the purchases is $12,040) . Motion carried. It was reported that the Building and Grounds Committee was recommending to the Finance Committee that authorization be given to the Police Chief to take bids on replacement of carpeting in the Police Chief's Office, Conference Room, Secretarial Office and other operational areas of the Police Department in need of carpet. The Chief was requested to prioritize the areas of need. It was moved by Seeber, seconded by Miller that this recommendation be approved and authorization be given as recommended. Motion carried. It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that authorization be given to seek bids for janitorial services for City Hall, City Hall Annex and Ramps. Motion carried. It was moved by Miller, seconded by Seeber that the bills for payment be recommended to the Council for approval as well as a garbage refund for 303 Alta Vista in the amount of $17.40.
