Members present: Chairperson Dowie, Klinger and Getty.
The following bids were reviewed for two (2) cab chassis and refuse
collectors (garbage packers) :
Donovan International Trucks $102,992.00
Zimmerman Ford (Cedar Rapids) ($5, 174) $ 97,818.00
Sage Truck Equipment $ 37,750.00
Elliott Equipment ($390.00) $ 37,360.00
In reviewing the bids, the issue of purchasing from local vendors,
regardless of price, was discussed. Each of the bidders for the
chassis discussed their product, including service and parts.
Councilperson Getty indicated that the purchase should be made
through a local vendor. As indicated by the bid specifications, the
"lowest, responsible bidder" principle prevails. It was moved by
Getty, seconded by Klinger that the bid of Donovan International
Trucks in the amount of $102,992.00 be approved. Motion carried.
Each of the bidders for the packers discussed their product,
including service, parts, and municipalities they serve. It was
moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the bid of Sage Truck
Equipment in the amount of $37,750.00 be approved. Motion carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the future funding
for the Wellness Program in the Fire Department be budgeted in the
F.Y. 1986 Fire Department budget. Motion carried.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty that authorization be
given to the Superintendent of the Central Garage to purchase a high
pressure water pump at an approximate cost of $3,700.00. Motion
carried.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the following
requisitions be authorized:
Garbage Refund - Lyle Ernster, 1226 N. Barclay - $18.30.
Fire 19840 Physio-Control Corporation $1 ,200.00
Electrical 18513 Kies Electric Supply $7,156.00
Street 19027 Red's Body Shop, Inc. $ 418.00
Planning, 17291 Claude Gardner Const. $1 ,498.00

Motion carried.
