Mayor's Conference Room
Members present: Chairman Dowie, Getty, Klinger.
It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the agenda as amended
be approved. Motion carried.
The first item of business was the request of the Purchasing Agent to
seek bids for office supplies for City Hall. Larry P. Burger,
Clerk/Auditor, reported that attempts have been made to buy supplies
with Black Hawk County and the Waterloo School System. However, at
this point purchasing with these governmental agencies has not been
accomplished. The main obstacle to bidding collectively is that the
school bids office supplies to vendors outside the Waterloo area.
This has not been a past practice of the City of Waterloo. It was
recommended that perhaps office supplies be bid with the option that
the county or schools be offered the same prices as is quoted to the
City of Waterloo. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that
the Purchasing Agent be authorized to solicit bids for office
supplies. Motion carried.
A brief written report from the Purchasing Agent was reviewed in
regard to the damage to the Sign and Traffic Building, 400 East Sixth
Street. Mr. Marbles reported that the City will sign a release and
obtain settlement on the cost of the repair which is approximately
one thousand one hundred eighty-two ($1 ,182) dollars.
It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty that the requisitions as
shown on the agenda be approved. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
