HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/07/1984 FINANCE OOMMITThE MEETING May 7, 1984 The following bids were reviewed for renovating second floor of City Hall (Transportation Program Office Area partitions): Bidder Bid Matt Parrott & Son Co. $1 ,865.45 Lincoln's Office Supply Co. $2,037.20 Office Concepts Ltd. $2,416.81 The City Engineer recommended that the low bid of Matt Parrott & Son Company in the amount of $1 ,865.45 be accepted. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the above recommendation be approved. Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for renovation to the second floor of City Hall for the Transportation Program Manager area: Bidder Bid Prairie Construction Co. , Inc. $3,059.00 Willie D. Harrington $4,375.00 Cardinal Construction Co. $3,195.00 Daniels Home Improvement & Const. Co. $4,375.00 It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger to approve the low bid of Prairie Construction Co. , Inc. Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for four (4) sets of uniforms for Motor Vehicle Parking Facilities: Bidder Bid Robins Discount Surplus $380.00 Sears Catalog ($387.78) $409.04 City Laundering Co. $319.02 Prior to discussion on this matter, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger to delay action on this matter until the end of the meeting to allow time for a legal opinion on acceptance of lowest bids. Motion carried. It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty to authorize the Police Department Records Division to take bids on a leased copy machine. Motion carried. The request of the Police Department to enter into a contractual agreement with the State of Iowa Department of General Services, Division of Communications to develop equipment and maintenance specifications for radio communications equipment was reviewed. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that authorization be given to enter into said contract. Motion carried. It was moved by Klinger, seconded by Getty to authorize the taking of bids for hoists for use by Central Garage at City Hall Annex (Police Department vehicle maintenance area). Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for an auctioneer for the City's Public Auction to be held May 12, 1984: Bidder Bid Lester Schares Auction Service .0025% of gross sales Conrad Doan .9% of gross sales Dick Backes Auctioneer 2.5% of gross sales C.L. Hoffman, Dyer Reiners, H.S. Whity Burns 5% of gross sales It was moved by Getty, seconded by Dowie to accept the low bid of Lester Schares. Motion carried. FINANCE O�MMI`rrhE MEETING PAGE 2 The purchase of uniforms for the Motor Vehicle Parking Facilities was brought to the floor for discussion. The Assistant City Attorney stated that the City must accept the lowest responsible bid, as contained in the specifications. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Klinger that the low bid of City Laundering Company be accepted. Motion carried. Hugh Field, Chairman of the Greyhound Dog Racing Task Force, updated the Committee on the application process. He stated that two (2) possible alternatives for financing were being considered. The first with General Obligation Bonds, which would require an election, and second method was a simple assessment bond procedure which does not require a referendum.
