The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor ' s
Conference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P.M . on Monday , June 28 , 1982 .
Council Member Dowie presiding officer.
On Roll Call : Dowie , Wilharm, Bowers , Roehr
Under Unfinished Business , the purchase of twelve ( 12) vehicles for the
Plain Clothes Division of the Police Department was discussed . The purchase
price of said vehicles from Hanawalt Ford , Inc. is $35 , 400. It was moved by
Bowers , seconded by Wilharm to authorize the above described purchase.
Motion carried.
The purchase of a Battery Conditioning System for the Police Department was
reviewed. Its use would eliminate memory build-up and increase the life
span of police portable radios . Because it was felt that bids should be
obtained for this unit , it was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to
authorize the taking of bids on the above item. Motion carried.
Police Chief Grimm requested that eight ( 8) officers be reimbursed for
expenses incurred as members of the Waterloo Police Pistol Team while
participating in recent competition in Cedar Rapids . Reimbursement would be
$50 per person . It was moved by Bowers , seconded by Wilharm to authorize
this expenditure. Motion carried.
It was moved by Bowers , seconded by Roehr to authorize the City Engineer ' s
Office to take bids on the installation of conduit for railroad signal wires
near the 11th Street bridge . Motion carried .
The request for entrance into the City ' s Deferred Compensation Program was
deleted from the agenda .
It was moved by Roehr , seconded by Bowers to authorize payment of the
following bills with the exception of Conway ' s request for payment of
Motorola Communications in the amount of $2 , 704 :
