The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Council
Chambers in City Hall at 6 : 30 P.M. on May 17, 1982.
Council Member Dowie presiding officer.
On Roll Call : Bowers , Wilharm, Roehr. Absent : Dowie.
The following bids were opened for P.H. Meter for the Milk Lab :

It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to refer the above bids to Milk
Sanitation for review and recommendation. Motion carried.
The following bids were opened for construction of hose for the Sewer
Department:

It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to refer the above bids to the
Sewer Department for review and recommendation. Motion carried.
The Building and Grounds Committee recommended that the bid of Jens Olesen
and Sons , Inc. in the amount of $1 , 027 be accepted for a metal door and
frame for the rear entrance of the Police Department. It was moved by
Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve this recommendation. Motion carried.

The Building and Grounds Committee recommended that the bid of Service
Roofing in the amount of $25, 541 (including Alt. 1 for insulation) be
accepted for roof replacement of the City Hall. It was moved by Wilharm,
seconded by Roehr to approve this recommendation. Motion carried. (See
minutes of May 10, 1982 for bid opening) .
Larry Cunningham, Garage Superintendent, recommended that the bid of Pak-Mor
submitted by R.S. and E in the amount of $35, 252 for two (2) packers be
approved. In a telephone survey, it was reported that both negative and
positive were given regarding this machine. After discussion, it was moved
by Wilharm, seconded by Bowers to approve the recommendation of the Garage
Superintendent to purchase the Pak-Mor. Motion carried.
It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to authorize the purchase of 200
Neighborhood Watch Signs at a cost of $1 , 085. Motion carried.
Mayor Rooff explained that the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad has indicated
their intent to repair the tracks at West First and Mullan. The City has
been asked to contribute some material for the work totaling approximately
$750. It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to approve this
expenditure. Motion carried.
It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to authorize repair of the radio
antenna servicing Channel 2 of the Waterloo Police Communications System.

Assistant Police Chief Dolan briefly summarized a proposal for replacement
of the department ' s vehicle fleet for the plain clothes division. It was
moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve the six-year Vehicle Purchase
Program as submitted by the Police Department. Motion carried.
Harold Getty, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, presented a request to
purchase spare parts for the profiler from CMI Corporation. The cost would
be $4, 625. 14. It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to authorize this
expenditure. Motion carried.
It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve payment of the
following bills :
