RESOLUTION NO. 2022-592
RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION FOR AN IOWA CLEAN AIR ATTAINMENT
GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,100,000.00, TO INSTALL A
TRAFFIC ADAPTIVE SIGNAL CONTROL SYSTEM ON
BROADWAY STREET FROM THE FRANKLIN-MULLAN
INTERSECTION TO HWY. THE 218 RAMPS (AT AIRPORT
BOULEVARD), AND COMMITTING TO MAINTAINING THE
IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE LIFE OF THE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has requested permission to submit an application
for an Iowa Clean Air Attainment grant in the amount of $1,100,000.00, to install a traffic
adaptive system on Broadway Street from the Franklin-Mullan intersection to the Hwy. 218
ramps (at Airport Boulevard), and
WHEREAS, The City of Waterloo is committed to adequately maintaining the completed
project for its intended public use following project completion, and
WHEREAS, The City of Waterloo will provide the twenty -percent (20%) local match
required for the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the submission of the application for an Iowa Clean Air
Attainment grant in the amount of $1,100,000.00, with matching City funds of twenty -percent
(20%), to install a traffic adaptive system on Broadway Street from the Franklin-Mullan
intersection to the Hwy. 218 ramps (at Airport Boulevard), and committing to maintaining the
improvements for the life of the project, is hereby approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of September 2022.
