RESOLUTION NO. 2023-022
RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF SPECIAL ELECTION AS
MARCH 7, 2023 TO FILL CITY COUNCIL WARD 4
VACANCY.
WHEREAS, Jerome Amos, Jr. was elected to the office of City Council Ward 4 for a
term expiring on December 31, 2023, and
WHEREAS, Jerome Amos, Jr. provided written notice of his resignation effective
January 4, 2023, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the alternatives to fill the position available
under Iowa Code Section 372.13(2) and has elected to fill the remaining unexpired term of said
elective office by special election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Clerk shall give notice to the County Auditor in writing of
the intent to fill the office by special election and to work with the County Auditor to schedule a
special election on March 7, 2023, and to take all action and perform such other acts as necessary
and required to comply with Iowa Code Section 372.13(2) to complete a special election.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of January 2023.
