RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH
THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE F.Y. 2012 LINCOLN
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
PROJECT, CONTRACT NO. 805, AND DIRECTING
EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEMENT BY MAYOR.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo proposes a Safe Routes to
School (SRTS) project for funding under Sec. 1101(a)17 and Sec.
1404(b) of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient
Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU); and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo in joint cooperation with the
Iowa Department of Transportation proposes to construct
sidewalks along Longfellow Avenue from Virginia Street to Newton
Street, and along Newton Street and West Parker Street from
Longfellow Avenue to Leonard Avenue; and
WHEREAS, this Project No. SRTS-U-8155(718)-8U-07 allows the
City of Waterloo to begin the design and easement acquisitions
needed in conjunction with the F.Y. 2012 Lincoln Elementary
School Safe Routes School Project, Contract No. 805.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa,
authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement
with the Iowa Department of Transportation for funding not to
exceed $154,620.00.
