HomeMy WebLinkAboutSupplemental Attachments - 2/20/2023Hi, my name is Stephanie Strickland, and I am a student in the Social Work program at UNI and a Peer Recovery Coach at Pathways Behavioral Services. And I am here today to advocate for the unhoused population as an advocacy project and to create change where I see that it is needed on a daily basis. There is a lot of prejudice from landlords against people corning out of the shelters who are trying to find housing, and this creates yet another barrier for them. I believe that there needs to be an incentive program for landlords specifically to motivate landlords to rent to individuals coming from the shelters. The program could include funds to put a triple deposit down or to have a pool to draw from if the landlord does not receive rent from the tenant. Also, I believe that it would be very productive to create more blended income housing in the area to allow low-income individuals to live alongside other people in the community to cut down on the stigma on the individuals based on the location of where people live. Also, so that the low-income individuals can see how a higher education is important and valuable, and to motivate the unemployed or undereducated to pursue a higher education or employment, which would help to prevent low-income individuals from becoming unhoused. Blended income housing also allows the members of society who might have prejudice to see that the low- income individuals are people just like themselves, and that it is not productive to look down on them or to put more barriers in their way. Last year the House passed the HB5 which wants to destroy your U.S. Constitution and transgender your children . The HB5 is alias the Equality Act, alias the SOGI. SOGI stands for Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity. SOGI language supports and validates the LGBTQ life styles thus demanding that they are to be treated as a preferred and protected class. Special protection for the LGBTQ will obliterate the civil rights of other people. Ryan T. Anderson of the Heritage Foundation states in the United States of America, people who identify as LGBTQ are free to live as they want. But SOGI laws are about coercion and forcing all Americans to embrace — and live out — certain beliefs about human sexuality. indoctrination of young children to accept and embrace the norrnalcy of transgenderism is happening from early elementary even as young as the age of four. Parents check your child's school's curriculum. Remember this: Viruaily any child can be directed to embrace transgenderism Call members of your Congress to alert them about HB5. Because if the Equality Act passes the Senate, all will be taken over by the homosexuals, lesbians; and transgenders. J -To all of the above institutions there will be a preferential hiring quota for homosexuals as a protected minority. Every homosexual fired or not hired becomes a potential civil rights lawsuit. Destruction of religious liberty: Anytime you oppose a homosexual, lesbian, or transgender you will be taken to court and charged with the crime of discrimination (ask the thousands of former Christian business owners and the Christian baker). This is because the Equality Act prohibits the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1933 from providing a claim, defense, or basis for. challenging such protection thus will lose our U. S. Constitutional Amendment 1—civil right —freedom of speech and religion. The Equality Act will enforce the Transgender Directive wherein a student becomes a transgender without parental consent and will have access to every school's restroom and every girl's sports team. Case in point: Queen Esther and the Israelites fasted and prayed to save their lives. So can we fast and pray to save the U.S. Constitution. Call your Senators to stop the Equality Act-.
