Progress update from Magellan on the broadband project. Courtney Violette, Magellan f provided an update on the progre on the fiber broadband project. ( they are working on a fiber b, design project, which is focu building 100 miles of fiber backb is designed to connect the se storm water infrastructure, alo parks, and city facilities. They ha working on the project since fall 2 is 60% complete. The second p working on fiber to the home completed an initial 30% desigr end of 2021 and are approact 60% milestone, target to hit the rr is April. The goal is to bring project designs into a single pi create efficiency and ensure they any redundancy. The project st completed late summer to early fa the 60% milestone for that pi complete they will come back to with an update on cost and next r moving forward. The goal is construction on the project begin with a three year build cycle. Con: would need to complete 150 mile: per year to stay on target and w be able to connect homes after year of construction in 2023. If c tion starts in spring 2023, they complete with construction in qua 2 of 2026. He added that they ha working closely with city staff or and have had their staff on Waterloo as well. Mr. Kurtenbach commented that interdict is still being constructer city. He questioned if that can be part of the backbone project. Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial explained that they are working identifying funding and researct legalities of that but assured th that they are making progress on Mr. Young questioned if some funding options they are exploring funding.
