RESOLUTION SETTING THE POLICY ON THE SELLING PRICE FOR
VACATED PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY, IN THE CITY OF WATERLOO,
BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IOWA.
WHEREAS, the long established policy of the City has been to
charge $0 . 10 per square foot for vacated public rights-of-way, and
WHEREAS, the Planning, Programming and Zoning staff prepared
a study of nine right-of-way sales made between July 1987 and June
1988 comparing the $0 . 10 per square foot charge to the assessed
value on a square foot basis of the adjoining property, and
WHEREAS, based upon the study and the need to bring selling
prices current with today' s standards, the Planning, Programming
and Zoning Commission approved said policy change.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the policy setting the price the City
receives for vacated public rights-of-way be based upon the
assessed value of the adjoining property (excluding buildings) and
on a square foot basis.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of January, 1989 .
