�' - WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has prepared an operating
budget for FY 1990 to fund those activities of the City, and
WHEREAS, the State of Iowa mandates that a municipality may
not exceed a general fund tax levy of $8 . 10 per $1 , 000 of taxable
valuation, and
WHEREAS, Chapter 24 . 48 , 1987 Iowa Code allows municipalities
to suspend the statutory property tax levy limitation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that an appeal be made to the Iowa
Department of Management to exceed the General Fund Tax Levy limit
of $8 . 10 per $1 , 000 of taxable valuation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an appeal not to exceed $8 . 53 per
$1, 000 of taxable valuation be hereby requested.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk/Auditor be and the same
hereby instructed to prepare said appeal and deliver to the Iowa
Department of Management for consideration and review.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of January, 1989 .
