HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-075-02.23.1989 m• 1J c� o `� RESOLUTION NO. 1989-75 E-+ HE-+ RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSED RECREATIONAL TRAILS, IN • w THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is currently in negotiations with the Chicago Northwestern Transportation Company (CNW) to purchase abandoned right-of-way along U.S. Highway 63 from University Avenue to West Shaulis Road, and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is currently developing n" a recreational trail that will eventually connect the Cedar Valley Nature Trail to George Wyth State Park running parallel with U.S. 218 from Mitchell Avenue northwest to Greenhill Road in conjunction with the Relocated U.S. Highway 218 Project, and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is developing a trail that would connect Ansborough Avenue to Katoski Drive using the flood control levee as its route connecting the trail being built on the Greenhill Road Project to the trail being built on the Ansborough Avenue Project, and WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation ( IDOT) has made funds available for the purchase and development of said recreational trails . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that said proposed recreational trails be endorsed. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Waterloo, Iowa, will adequately maintain said proposed trails for their intended use and will maintain said total trails used to justify the project in public use for a minimum of twenty ( 20 ) years following project completion.
