RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY AS A
HOLIDAY FOR ALL CITY EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, recognizes the
importance of Martin Luther King to this nation, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the accomplishments of Martin
Luther King, the nation pauses during this day to honor Martin
Luther King in a national holiday.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL that the
City of Waterloo, Iowa, designates January 15 , 1990 as a holiday
for its employees in recognition of Martin Luther King.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the third Monday of each January
be and the same hereby designated as a future holiday for all
City employees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Airport Commission and the
Library Board will act independently of this action.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of September, 1989 .
