HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-647-12.04.1989 RESOLUTION NO. 1989-647 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN EXCESS BUILDING AND LAND TO POWER ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING, LTD. FOR $75, 000 , PLUS COSTS AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER A DEED FOR SAME. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is the owner of real property in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, as described below, and WHEREAS, an offer to purchase said certain parcel of real property in the sum of $75 , 000, plus costs, has been made by Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. , and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on December 4 , 1989, at 7 : 00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa, as provided by law, by the Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, on the proposal to sell and convey premises owned by the City of Waterloo, Iowa, to Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. , Waterloo, Iowa, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Council that sale and conveyance should be made as proposed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, as follows: 1 . The following described real property, as fully described in the published notice in the Waterloo Courier on November 24, 1989 , is not presently needed and will not be needed in the foreseeable future for municipal purposes and its ownership is serving no municipal purpose. 2 . That the offer of Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. to purchase real property for the sum of $75, 000 and costs be, and it is hereby accepted for property described below: That part of Morning Side Addition, vacated Rath Street and Auditor ' s Morningside Plat lying within the following described bounds: Beginning at a point on the West line of Vinton Street ( former Concrete Street) which is Two Hundred Eighty ( 280) feet Southwesterly of the Southerly line of Sycamore Street (as meausred along said West line of Vinton Street) ; thence Northwesterly Five Hundred Fifth ( 550 ) feet to a point which lies Two Hundred Thirty ( 230) feet normally distant Southerly of the Sourthly line of Sycamore Street; thence Southwesterly to a point which is Five Hundred Ten ( 510 ) feet normally distant Southerly of the Southerly line of said Sycamore Street and Six Hundred Twenty-five ( 625) feet normally distant Westerly of the Westerly line of said Vinton Street; thence Southeasterly to a point on the Westerly line of said Vinton Street which is Three Hundred Forty ( 340 ) feet Southwesterly of the point of beginning; thence Northeasterly Three Hundred Forty ( 340) feet to the point of beginning; subject to final survey, all in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. 3 . That the City of Waterloo, Iowa, convey said parcel of real property to Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. by Quit Claim Deed. 4 . That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver a deed to Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. Resolution No. 1989- 647 Page 2 5. That the original of said deed fully executed and acknowledged is hereby approved and confirmed by the Council. 6. That the City Clerk is authorized and directed to deliver said deed of conveyance to Power Engineering & Manufacturing, Ltd. upon receipt of the sum of $75,000, and costs.
