On the following day, participants were rewarded with a music and art festival at theRotary Reserve north of Cedar Falls. c, ‹, c WHEREAS, this year we will be cleaning a stretch of the Cedar River from the Highway 57 bridge in Cedar Falls to Cedar River Park in Waterloo on July 14th. A Bremer County group is organizing a cleanup from Waverly to Janesville and a Mitchell County group is planning the same from Otranto to Osage on July 14th. The Cedar Valley Sportsmans Club is planning a cleanup from Janesville to Cedar Falls as well. Earlier in June, a canoe float in northern Iowa and another near Cedar Rapids, cleaned trash out of the Cedar River as part of the Cedar River Cleanup. WHEREAS, this year, Advanced Recycling Systems and Kann Manufacturing are assisting is separating collected refuse for recycling. The Black Hawk County Conservation Board, Hawkeve Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, Public Works and Public Safety Departments of the cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, and the Black Hawk County Sheriff ' s Department are assisting in the cleanup effort. Numerous environmental and civic organizations are also taking part in the weekend' s events . WHEREAS, the Cedar River Music and Arts Festival will be held July 15th at the Rotary Reserve. There will be music, environmental displays, educational children' s activities, local artists ' displays, and food provided by local non-profit organizations. BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Waterloo does hereby proclaim July 14 - 15, 1990, as Cedar River Awareness Weekend in Waterloo, and urges all citizens to partake in the weekend events and celebrate one of our area' s greatest natural resources, the Cedar River.
