RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
MANAGER TO PROCEED WITH STAGE II OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL
REMOVAL PROCESS AT WEST THIRD STREET AND LOCUST
STREET.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Area Traffic Operation and
Signal Study (MATOSS) suggests the removal of unwarranted
traffic signals, and
WHEREAS, the intersection of West Third Street and
Locust Street may not warrant a traffic signal, and.
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Council that said
removal be considered, and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Program Manager was given
authorization to proceed with Stage I of the Traffic Removal
Process at said intersection on September 25, 1989, and has
now completed said Stage I .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Waterloo, Iowa, that the Transportation Program
Manager be and the same hereby instructed to proceed with
Stage II of the Traffic Removal Process at the intersection
of West Third Street and Locust Street which includes:
1. Predicted changes in accident rate;
2. Compute impacts;
3 . Compare cost of signal removal versus
continuing signal maintenance;
4 . Determine what type of control is required at
the above referenced signal; and
5. Hold public hearing to remove signal.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of April, 1990.
