RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE WITHDRAWAL OF
F.A.P. I-380 (INTERCITY FREEWAY) PROJECT FROM THE
FEDERAL INTERSTATE SYSTEM
WHEREAS, it has been planned that a segment of interstate
highway, designated as I-380 should be constructed in the Waterloo
Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, it is now proposed that such Interstate 380 not
be constructed and that essential traffic service provided by this
facility be provided by other transportation facilities and services,
thus allowing the funds estimated to be saved by city, county, state,
and federal governments to be better utilized in other federal-aid
projects serving the Waterloo Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the approved 1979 Interstate Cost Estimate of
$218,638, 000 for construction of this 8.6 mile segment between Mitchell
Avenue and proposed Highway 518, will provide for a program of
substitute transportation projects.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WATERLOO that the aforedescribed segment be withdrawn
from the Interstate System pursuant to Section 103(e) (4) of Title 23,
United States Code.
