RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WATERLOO TO PROCEED WITH
DEVELOPING THE NECESSARY SUPPORT DATA TO ESTABLISH AN URBAN
REVITALIZATION DISTRICT IN THE CITY OF WATERLOO, BLACK HAWK
COUNTY, IOWA.
WHEREAS, the Urban Revitalization Act adopted by the Iowa
legislature allows the designation of Urban Revitalization Districts
by municipalities, and
WHEREAS, improvements to qualified real estate within the
designated area are eligible for a property tax exemption, and
WHEREAS, the area being proposed as a revitalization district
meets the criteria as set forth in the Urban Revitalization Act,
and
WHEREAS, the designation of the area will promote the public
health, safety, and welfare of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, that authorization be given for the necessary support to
be researched for the following geographical area: ,
The Franklin Urban Revitalization Area will legally be
described as the area beginning at the intersection of
Franklin Street and East Seventh Street, hence northwest
via Franklin Street to East First Street, hence north via
First Street to Almond Street, hence east via Almond to
East Fourth Street, hence south via East Fourth Street to
Walnut Street, hence southeast via Walnut Street to Maple
Street, hence east via Maple Street to South Barclay Street,
hence south on South Barclay Street to the southern boundary
of the Chicago & Great Western Railroad corridor, hence
northeast along this boundary to Linden Avenue, hence south
via Linden Avenue to the southwest boundary of the Illinois
Central Railroad corridor, hence southeast along this .boun-
dary to Franklin Street, hence west via Franklin Street to
East Eleventh Street, hence southwest via East Eleventh
Street to the Cedar River, hence northwest along the Cedar
River to East Seventh. Street, hence northeast via East
Seventh to the beginning point.
for its future designation as an Urban Revitalization District.
