RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE WATERLOO CITY COUNCIL TO
ORDER THE REPAIR OF CERTAIN RAILROAD CROSSINGS OF
THE CHICAGO & NORTHWESTERN RAILROAD,ILLINOIS CENTRAL
GULF RAILROAD, AND ROCK ISLAND LINES IN THE CITY OF
WATERLOO AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
SERVE NOTICE ON SAID COMPANIES .
WHEREAS, the need exists for the repair of various railways
which cross public streets within the City of Waterloo, and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has thus informed each party of this
need in a letter dated February 15 , 1980 , and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Code of Ordinance Section 32-3 allows the
City Council to order the repair of deteriorated grade crossings , and
WHEREAS , a provision exists within the Waterloo Code of Ordinance
Section 32-3 whereby providing that if said companies neglect or
refuse to repair said streets within 10 days of this notification,
the City may proceed with the repairs and assess said costs upon the
real estate and personal property of the railway as provided by state
law, now, therefore,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO,
IOWA:
That the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, Illinois Central
Gulf Railroad, and Rock Island Lines be ordered to repair immediately
the following described crossings :
1. Chicago & Northwestern Railroad:
Ansborough Avenue Bluff & West Fifth
Fletcher Avenue Lafayette Street
Mullan Avenue Sycamore Street
Bluff & West 2nd Jefferson Street
Bluff & West 3rd Linden Avenue
Bluff & Park Avenue Commercial (spur tracks)
West 6th & Bluff Franklin
McKinley Walnut
2 . Illinois Central Gulf Railroad:
Donald Street Dawson Street
Lincoln Street Rainbow Drive
Park Road at Harrison Burton at Conger
Ansborough Avenue Linden
Mobile Willow
Vinton Lincoln
Franklin Logan
Logan Wagner
East Mullan Airline
Brees Airport Road
Vaughn Columbia
East First Street Upton
