RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $17 , 500. 00 TO THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AS THE CITY'S SHARE FOR PARTICIPATION
IN THE GROUND TRANSPORTATION CENTER DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES .
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has received
a grant from the United States Department of Transportation for
the purpose of assisting selected cities in Iowa to conduct
Ground Transportation Center feasibility studies; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa DOT has invited the City of Waterloo to parti-
cipate in the Ground Transportation Center development activities;
and
WHEREAS, the Iowa DOT requires that the City of Waterloo contri-
bute the sum of no more than $17, 500. 00 as the City' s share to
participate in the Ground Transportation Center development
activities; and

WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo desires to develop a Ground Trans-
portation Center; and .
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo expects to receive various direct
services from the Iowa DOT or its consultants, Barton-Ashman
Associates, Inc. , including but not limited to: preparation of
an environmental assessment report, identification of project
design issues and options, exploration of the market feasibility
of private/public uses, development of preliminary building designs
and cost estimates, and provision of technical assistance to the
City in planning and packaging the overall development including
negotiation with potential private developers and tenants;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WATERLOO,
IOWA, that the sum of $17 , 500. 00 is hereby authorized for expendi-
ture to the Iowa Department of Transportation as the City' s share
for participation in the Ground Transportation Center Program.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution
shall be delivered to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
