HomeMy WebLinkAbout+Addendum #2 - FY23 Gates Park Imprvmnts-FinalADDENDUM NO. 2 TO THE BIDDING DOCUMENTS FOR FY 2023 GATES PARK IMPROVEMENTS CITY CONTRACT NO. 1076 CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA Date: April 20, 2023 Bids Close: April 27, 2023, 1:00 p.m. TO ALL BIDDERS ON THE ABOVE PROJECT: All Bidders submitting a bid on the above contract shall carefully read this Addendum and give it consideration in the preparation of their bid. I. The following edits are in reference to the specifications: A. Project Manual, Notice to Bidders, Beginning and Completion Dates — Add the following paragraph: Stage 2 shown on that C1.02 shall include the following intermediate completion dates. The soccer field shall be final graded, irrigation installed and seeded before the fall 2023 seed date of September 30, 2023. The playground area adjacent to the soccer field shall be final graded by July 1, 2023, so the City can relocate the existing playground by August 11, 2023. B. Project Manual, Special Provisions — Edit Item 1.A.6) (Pavement Material, Portland Cement Concrete) as follows: Delete: 6) 3.02.F: Use of paving machine required on all sections 200 feet or more. C. Project Manual, General Special Provisions — Add the following paragraphs to Item 11. Construction Scheduling: Stage 1 is expected to have the splash pad (including fencing, building, equipment, paving, utilities, and all work required to have the splash pad and buildings properly functioning), and associated parking lot completed and open to the public for use by May 24, 2024. Stage 2 shown on C1.02 shall include the following intermediate completion dates. Project Manual, Special Provisions — Delete the existing Item 24 (Percent of Contract to be Performed by Prime Contractor) in its entirety and replace with the following: "24. The Prime Contractor shall be required to perform at least 15 percent of the total contract amount of this project not including specialty items which are Splash Pad Equipment, Playground Equipment, Lighting and Landscaping. (Coordinate substitution requests with AECOM) F. Project Manual, Technical 03 — Precast Architectural Concrete — Specification Section 03 45 00 — Add Marcstone to the list of approved manufacturers. G. Project Manual, Technical 08 — Openings — Section 08 71 00 — Append the Door Hardware Section with the attached page to include door hardware for doors 130.1, 131.1, and 132.1. (Section "08 71 00 Door Hardware" Page 18 is attached and made a part of this Addendum #2.) H. Project Manual, General Specifications — For clarity to Item 5 (Stakes and Instructions) add: "Construction staking provided by the City shall include the following: Provide construction staking for horizontal and vertical controls for the project as follows: Project Control; Set Stakes for Erosion Control; Grading (GPS); Removals; Storm Sewer and Water Quality Basins; Sanitary Sewer; Water Service; Parking Lot and Driveway Paving; Trail Paving; Sidewalks; ADA Ramps; Paving for Pool Deck, Basketball Courts, Track, and Playground; Building Corners Only and Finish Floor Elevation Only; Splash Pad Boundary and Form Grade Elevation Only; Splash Pad Drains and Associated Water Lines; Retaining Wall and Playground Paving; Footings for Exterior Lighting, Splash Pad Equipment and Basketball Goal; Signs; Fencing and Bedding Edging; Landscaping Trees at Lower Gates and Upper Gates Outside of the Fenced Area; Right -of -Way of Private Property/Construction Limits. (Internal Building Layout will not be provided.)" II. The following are in reference to the plan sheets: A. Sheet C0.05 — For Bid Items 12 -14, Storm Sewer — ADS Sanitite HP shall be an approved equivalent to RCP. F-3 bedding per SUDAS shall be required if utilized with a minimum 15" bury depth per manufacture recommendation. B. Sheet C0.05 — For Bid Items 98 Picnic Shelter Installation — North Gates and 99 Picnic Shelter Installation — South Gates, the shelters to be purchased and supplied by the City. C. Sheet C0.05 — For Bid Item 112 Gravel for Playground Turf Safety Surfacing, the following shall be added to the estimate reference information: Basis of design is 2" of clean #89 topping stone over 4" of clean #57 stone over geotextile fabric for all Type 1 Playground Surfacing areas with no concrete base (synthetic turf and safety padding to be provided by others, not in contract). Approximate quantities include 65 CY of #89 topping stone, 130 CY of #57 base stone, and 10,481 SF of geotextile fabric. D. Sheet C0.05 — For Bid Item 113 Concrete Base for Sloped Turf Surfacing, the following shall be added to the estimate reference information: Basis of design is 4" of concrete over 4" of clean #57 stone over geotextile fabric for all Type 1 Playground Surfacing areas with concrete base (synthetic turf and safety padding to be provided by others, not in contract). Approximate quantities include 13 CY of #57 base stone and 1056 SF of concrete pavement and geotextile fabric. E. Sheet L3.03 - Delete Sheet L3.03 and replace with the attached Sheet L3.03. This sheet had several updates to details to clarify the playground surfacing installation. (Plan Sheet L3.03 is attached and made a part of this Addendum #2.) F. Sheet L3.04 - Delete Sheet L3.04 and replace with the attached Sheet L3.04. This had several updates to details to clarify the playground surfacing installation. (Plan Sheet L3.04 is attached and made a part of this Addendum #2.) G. Sheet A4.20 - Delete the existing sheet and replace it with attached Sheet A4.20 to show additional notes for the picnic shelters. (Plan Sheet A4.20 is attached and made a part of this Addendum #2.) H. Sheet A6.01 - Delete the existing sheet and replace it with attached Sheet A6.01 to show removal of accent paint. Door contact shall be used in conjunction with the burglar system. L. Sheet E1.00 — Detail #3 Splash Pad Restroom Power Plan, Storage 103 shall be revised as follows: Change the motion detector to door contacts. Door contact shall be used in conjunction with the burglar system. M. Sheet E1.00 — Detail #3 Splash Pad Restroom Power Plan, Pump Room 104 shall add the following: Keypad for Burglar Alarm control inside the door next to the wall phone. Door contacts. Door contact shall be used in conjunction with the burglar system. N. Sheet R3.12 — Delete Sheet R3.12 included in Addendum #1 and replace with the attached Sheet R3.12.
