HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-599-7 /12/2010RESOLUTION NO. 2010-599 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AND APPROVING ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED AT 300 WEST MULLAN AVENUE (GRAND HOTEL) IN THE CITY OF WATERLOO, BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IOWA. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, has had the parcel described herein appraised and the fair market value ascertained, and WHEREAS, the acquisition of the hereinafter described parcel is in conjunction with the Downtown Master Plan Update, dated August 2003, which recommends acquisition for uses that primarily contribute to the entertainment economic strategy for the downtown as a whole, and WHEREAS, acquisition of said property generally located at 300 West Mullan Avenue falls within the Downtown Master Plan priorities, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the contract for the parcel hereinafter described to sell the same to the City of Waterloo, Iowa, all of which is situated in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, is accepted and approved and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute the same in behalf of the City and to execute all instruments necessary to consummate the agreement to purchase the property from the owners thereof, and the deed for the conveyance of the same is also accepted and approved and the City of Waterloo is directed to pay for the property from City funds. The sublect address is: Owners - 190 Orange Avenue Address - 300 West Mullan Avenue (Grand Hotel) Total Acquisition - $800,000.00 plus up to $20,000.00 in closing costs Parcel A in Part of Lot No. 30 in "Auditor's Falls Avenue and Mullen Avenue Plat" in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, described as follows: Commencing at the most Southerly corner of Lot 30; thence North 48 degrees, 50 minutes 00 seconds West, along the Southwesterly line of said Lot 30, a distance of 323.07 feet to the Point of Beginning; thence continuing along said Southwesterly line, North 48 degrees 50 minutes 00 seconds West a distance of 243.81 feet; thence North 62 degrees 55 minutes 58 seconds East, a distance of 222.89 feet; thence North 83 degrees 45 minutes 11 seconds East, a distance of 78.78 feet; thence South 57 degrees 07 minutes 37 seconds East a distance of 103.99 feet; thence South 48 degrees 50 minutes 00 seconds East, a distance of 17.47 feet; thence South 43 degrees 43 minutes 43 seconds West, a distance of 280.28 feet to the point of beginning. Parcel B in Part of Lot No. 30 in "Auditor's Falls Avenue and Mullen Avenue Plat" in the City of Waterloo, Blackhawk County, Iowa, described as follows: U Resolution No. 2010-599 Page 2 Beginning at the most Southerly corner of Lot 30; thence North 48 degrees 50 minutes 00 seconds West, along the Southwesterly line of said Lot 30, a distance of 323.07 feet; thence North 43 degrees 43 minutes 43 seconds East, a distance of 280.28 feet; thence South 48 degrees 50 minutes 00 seconds East, a distance of 311.36 feet; thence South 41 degrees 20 minutes 00 seconds West, a distance of 280.00 feet to the point of beginning.
