AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 1 AND 3 OF ARTICLE
XVII OF ORDINANCE NO. 2234, ENTITLED PLUMBING CODE,
CITY OF WATERLOO, STATE OF IOWA, AND ENACTING IN
LEIU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 1 AND 3.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA; THAT
Sections 1 and 3 of Article XVII of Ordinance No. 2234, Entitled Plumbing Code,
City of Waterloo, State of Iowa, are hereby repealed and the following new
Sections 1 and 3 enacted in lieu thereof:
Section 1. There is hereby created a board of plumber examiners, and
the members of such board shall be: One member nominated by the Mayor and
appointed by the City Council, two master plumbers, one, who shall be elected
as chairman of the board, two journeyman plumbers, and the plumbing inspector
who shall be an ex officio member of the board and secretary thereof, but
without the right to vote.
Section 3. Appointment --- The member nominated by the Mayor and
appointed by the City Council who sits upon the board of plumbing examiners
shall be appointed but may be removed at any time for cause by the Ctiy
Council. Commencing with the first regular council meeting in March, one
master plumber and one journeyman plumber shall be appointed to the board of
plumber examiners each year for a term of two years or until his or their
successors shall have been appointed and qualified. At time of appointments
there shall be only one board member from any one shop. Master plumbers and
journeyman plumbers on the board must have had their licenses at least five
years and recommended by their respective groups.
