RESOLUTION NO. 2023-118
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF FIREWORKS ON
JULY 3, 2023, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF TWELVE O'CLOCK
(12:00) NOON AND ELEVEN O'CLOCK (11:00) P.M., IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 5-2-13(B)(1) OF THE
WATERLOO CITY CODE.
WHEREAS, Section 5-2-13(B)(1) of the Waterloo City Code authorizes the City Council
to determine the day(s)/time of use of consumer fireworks within the corporate limits of the city
of Waterloo by resolution, and
WHEREAS, the July 4th holiday falls on a Tuesday in 2023, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to limit the use and explosion of consumer
fireworks within the city limits of the City of Waterloo to July 3, 2023 between the hours of
twelve o'clock (12:00) noon and eleven o'clock (11:00) p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA AS FOLLOWS:
That the use and explosion of consumer fireworks within the city limits of the City of
Waterloo on July 3, 2023, between the hours of twelve o'clock (12:00) noon and eleven o'clock
(11:00) p.m., in accordance with Section 5-2-13(B)(1) of the Waterloo City Code, is hereby
approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of February 2023.
