HomeMy WebLinkAbout2552-12.14.1970 '_ 60 ORDINANCE NO. £7, AN ORDINANCE REPEALING IN ITS ENTIRETY ORDINANCE NO. 2457, ESTABLISHING THE RANK AND POSITION OF BUREAU COMMANDER; AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF AN ORDINANCE RE-ESTABLISHING THE RANK AND POSITION OF ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE AND ABOLISHING THE RANK AND POSITION OF BUREAU COMMANDER OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, as follows: 1. That Ordinance No. 2457 which reads as follows, be and the same is hereby repealed: Sec. 1. That there shall be created and established the rank and position of Bureau Commander of the Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Sec. 2. The Chief of the Police Department shall as soon as possible after the effective date of this ordinance appoint two bureau commanders of the Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, from a list certified by the Civil Service Commission of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, with said appointments to be confirmed and approved by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Any vacancies in said rank and position of bureau commander shall be filled in a similar manner. Sec. 3. The bureau commander shall perform such duties as may be assigned and delegated by the Chief of Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Sec. 4. Any other ordinances in conflict with this ordinance, be and the same are hereby repealed and abolished. 2. The following ordinance is hereby enacted in lieu thereof: Sec. 1. That there shall be created and established the rank and position of Assistant Chief of Police in the Police Department in the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Sec. 2. The Chief of the Police Department shall as soon as possible after the effective date of this ordinance appoint two Assistant Chief of Police of the Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, from a list certified by the Civil Service Commission of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, with said appointments to be confirmed and approved by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Any vacancies in said rank and position of Assistant Chief of Police shall be filled in a similar manner, except that any officer who has previously had the rank and position of Bureau Commander shall be deemed to have had the position of Assistant Chief. Sec. 3. The Assistant Chiefs of Police shall perform such duties as may be assigned and delegated by the Chief of Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Sec. 4. The rank and position of Bureau Commander of the Police Department of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is hereby abolished. Sec. 5. Any other ordinances in conflict with this ordinance, be and the same are hereby repealed and abolished.
