AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2234 KNOWN AS
THE PLUMBING CODE, REPEALING PARAGRAPH 6 OF BASIC
PLUMBING PRINCIPLES AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF
A NEW PARAGRAPH 6 -OF BASIC PLUMBING PRINCIPLES;
REPEALING ITEM 60- OF ARTICLE I ENTITLED PRIVATE
DWELLING AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW ITEM
60 OF ARTICLE I ENTITLED PRIVATE DWELLING; RE-
PEALING SECTION 4 OF ARTICLE III ENTITLED CAST
IRON PIPE AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW
SECTION 4 OF ARTICLE III ENTITLED CAST IRON PIPE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That all of Paragraph 6 of Basic Plumbing Principles of Ordinance No. 2234, which
reads as follows, be, and the same is hereby repealed in its entirety:
Paragraph 6.--In Multiple dwellings defined as Class "A" under Sec. 6329 of the
Code of Iowa provided with a house drainage system, there shall be at least one
private water closet and sink for each family.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That new Paragraph 6 of Basic Plumbing Principles of Ordinance No. 2234, be, and
the same is hereby enacted in lieu thereof:
Paragraph 6.--Each permanent dwelling unit shall meet the minimum plumbing require-
ment set out in Section 9 of Article II herein.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That Item 60, Article I, of Ordinance No. 2234, which reads as follows, be, and
the same is hereby repealed in its entirety:
60.--Private Dwelling--is understood in this Ordinance to be any building used
only for living purposes and occupied by not more than two families.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That new Item 60, Article I, of Ordinance No. 2234, be, and the same is hereby
enacted in lieu thereof:

for living purposes and occupied by not more than one family.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That Section 4, Article III, of Ordinance No. 2234, which reads as follows, be,
and the same is hereby repealed in its entirety:
Sec. 4--Cast Iron Pipe. (a) Quality - All cast iron pipe and fittings shall be
extra heavy and conform to the Commercial Standard C.S. 188-59 Standard Specifi-
cations For Extra Heavy Cast Iron Pipe and Fittings.
(b) Coating - All cast iron pipe and fittings shall be coated with asphaltum or
coal tar pitch.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
That new Section 4, Article III, of Ordinance No. 2234, be, and the same is hereby
enacted in lieu thereof:
Sec. 4--Cast Iron Pipe. (a) Quality - All cast iron pipe shall be either Service
Weight "Standard" C.S. 188-53 or Extra Heavy Commercial Standard C.S. 188-59
Standard Specifications for Cast Iron Soil Pipe and Fittings. All cast iron pipe
shall be centrifugally spun.
(b) Coating - All cast iron pipe and fittings shall be coated with asphaltum or
coal tar pitch.
