HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-186-03/08/2010RESOLUTION NO. 2010-186 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE IOWA ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CEDAR VALLEY TECHWORKS TO FUND A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE TECHWORKS ENERGY PLAN. WHEREAS, the Iowa Office of Energy Independence is soliciting grant application for funding energy efficiency and renewable energy projects through their Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo and Cedar Valley TechWorks have a long-standing partnership and joint commitment to economic development in the City through innovative project implementation, and WHEREAS, TechWorks has developed a visionary concept for an energy system to power the TechWorks Campus that will contribute to the overall success of the TechWorks redevelopment project, and WHEREAS, the EECBG program could be a resource to provide funding for a feasibility assessment that would help advance the TechWorks energy plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City of Waterloo will partner with Cedar Valley TechWorks as the primary applicant in a joint submission of a grant request to the EECBG program for funding to help advance the TechWorks energy plan.
