F3) All foundation excavations shall be inspected and certified by a qualified independent soils testing firm. M4) Maximum grout lift without cleanouts 5'-4" for block walls and 8 in. for grout between wythes in multiple wythe walls. M5) Tie vertical reinforcing at each end and at 8'-0" maximum vertical spacing. M6) Locate control joints in concrete masonry at 20'-0" maximum spacing, unless specified otherwise, but not less than 2'-0" from a bearing plate or jamb of an opening. Provide grouted keyway joint or pre -manufactured joint assembly at all control joint locations in CMU. M7) In 6", 8", 10", and 12" masonry walls, provide vertical reinforcing in the center of grout, at center of the wall, continuous full height of the wall as follows, unless noted otherwise: a) 1 #5 at corners, intersections, wall ends and jambs, and each side of expansion and control joints. b) 1 #5 @ 48" O.C. typical. M8) Grout all reinforced cells solid full height. Grout all cells solid below grade. M9) Lap splices in masonry reinforcing shall be 50 bar diameters. M10) Provide 2 #5 in 8" minimum depth continuous grouted bond beams at all structural floor, roof lines, and the tops of all parapets. See details for other locations. M11) Place bond beam and lintel reinforcing continuously through expansion and control joints, wrapping bars with 1/8" thick bond breaking tape 2'-0" both sides of joint. M14) Shop drawings shall show location of reinforcement, openings, and control joints, in plan and in elevation. M15) Do not place pipes, ducts, reglets, or chases in concrete masonry without approval of the structural engineer through the architect. LINTELS L1) Provide lintels over all openings and recesses in masonry construction. L2) All lintels shall have a minimum of 8" end bearing. L3) Precast or reinforced masonry lintels shall be made of the same materials as the surrounding walls. Use 1-#5 (minimum) reinforcing bar top and bottom for each 4" nominal width of masonry.
