Committee Reports
Building & Grounds — Chairperson Mel Wittwer
Mel Wittwer commented that Rick Hurtado covered the cost of the room dedication plaques. He
also shared that three concrete pads have been poured for the future picnic tables but is unsure
when they'll be placed. Two additional parking spots with the agreement that they won't ticket
any vehicles during events or meetings. He said that Randy mentioned that he had contacted
someone at the city to request that Courbat Lane be made into a one-way street. There has been
no feedback yet. He and Randy spoke with the city engineer regarding the condition of the
concrete at the handicap entrance as well as the fountain. The engineer said he would look to see
if there are any engineering drawings to help determine how much it will cost to repair. He
suggested perhaps a fundraiser to help cover the cost. Mel commented that the Veterans Day
service went well.
Randy Miller joined the meeting by phone.
Craig White commented that the Community Foundation grants opened up.
Operations — Chairperson David Grimm
David Grimm reported that the committee would not meet again until next Monday so he has
nothing new to report, except that they will attend the next council meeting for the second
reading of the ordinance amendment on Chapter 11.

Randy said that he appreciated everyone for all the help with the Veterans program and that it
went well. He acknowledged Rick Hurtado for funding the plaques and informational boards.
He and Mel talked with Wayne Castle regarding parking situation and he was going to draw up
some plans for more spaces by removing the grass section on Courbat Court. After talking with
Mike Mrzlak and Dave Grimm about parking, Dave came up with a great idea of making
Courbat Court a one-way street from W. 4th to W. 5th. Randy explained that he took the liberty
of speaking with Sandie Greco on the matter and she explained that they would need to perform
a traffic study first and said she would work with engineering as well.
Mel asked for confirmation that the commission agreed to store the American flags at Memorial
Hall.
Dave Grimm confirmed.
Artifacts Preservation — Chairperson James Lentfer
Jim Lentfer reported that the committee met on November 7th along with Randy Miller, Rick
Hurtado and the Grout volunteer. He shared that they briefly discussed the intern Jake and have
made a plan to continue their artifact relationship with UNI next year. He gave special thanks to
Angela for her efforts to clean all the display cases and entryway. He provided further details
about the various efforts made to prepare the Hall for the Veterans Day program. He spoke about
some Spanish American war banners and flags, which the committee felt would best be suited
for matting and framing He shared that the next committee meeting will be held on December
5th
Finance/Fundraising — None. Position vacant.
Unfinished Business — None.
